We didn’t choose the quarantine life—the quarantine life chose us. But in our quest to find the new normal, we’ve learned quite a bit about finding the perfect balance of self-care and productivity.
This experience has taught us a valuable lesson: in order to produce amazing work for our clients, we need to take care of ourselves, too. We’ve taken the time to find what works for each of us, and how to keep ourselves feeling inspired, creative, and excited about each new day.
So, we’re sharing the workday routine that has kept us sane (and dare we say downright productive?) during the quarantine. Whatever the future holds, we hope this insight will help you maximize your time and find your best self, so you can stay positive and keep crushing your goals—from your couch or the office.
8am: Start Your Morning with Meditation
This isn’t just for yogis. Meditation is swiftly gaining popularity among all ages, helping people deal with jam-packed schedules and daily stressors. And that should come as no surprise. Statistics show that this mindfulness practice can reduce blood pressure in 80% of people, alleviate insomnia symptoms in 75% of people, and increase your attention span after just four days of practicing. Not to mention its powerful benefits in reducing anxiety and generally boosting energy levels. Today, there’s an app for everything, so you can start each morning off with a meditation session and a clear head. Try an app like Headspace or Calm to see for yourself!
9am–12pm: Power Through Big Projects
Having a tough time getting in the swing of things? You’re not alone. It’s no secret that a morning routine is key to setting yourself up for a productive day. We discovered that those coveted morning hours, particularly between 9am and 12pm, are critical for pushing through dense projects. Set aside this time to work without any distractions, and you’ll be amazed how much you accomplish! That energy will help fuel you for the rest of your day, so wake up early, grab your coffee, and get started.
Midday: Break for Lunch—No Exceptions
1pm–5pm: Tackle Smaller Tasks in the Afternoon
5pm: End the Day with Movement
We know it can seem difficult to sweat it out when confined to your living room. But with all of the streaming services we could ever imagine at our fingertips, there are plenty of at-home workout options. Sign up for a virtual barre, Zumba, or pilates class, or just do some push-ups and sit-ups from the comfort of your bedroom floor. We promise you’ll feel better. And in the age of quarantine, some streaming exercise companies have decided to make their programs temporarily free, so exercise is accessible for everyone. CorePower Yoga On Demand is sharing a collection of free workouts each week, while Daily Burn and Peloton have each extended their free trial periods to 60 and 90 days, respectively. So, what are you waiting for? Tiger King can wait.
