Facebook Changed Your Email Address
Whether you’ve noticed or not, Facebook quietly replaced your primary email address to an @facebook.com address last week. Check it out. The email address that is listed on your profile is now one you’ve probably never seen before.
Now, when users send an email to your Facebook.com address, it pops up in your Facebook inbox. However, some of them will end up in an “other messages” folder that few people know about. Facebook says it’s to make the email addresses “…consistent across our site.”
There are a couple of different opinions on this issue floating around our office. One is that it is just plain wrong. Changing users’ personal profiles without prior notification is a violation of privacy and a sneaky tactic. The other is that you get what you pay for. Facebook doesn’t charge to use its services, so they can essentially do what they please to your profile.
What do you think about it?
