It was announced that Alax Bogusky is leaving MDC Partners, the holding company for some of the biggest and most creative agencies around, including of course, Crispen, Porter Bogusky (CPB), one of the hottest communications firm of the last decade. It brought to mind the challenge that every professional service firm faces. We have to be larger than just one person. While you must have strong leadership, the firm has to be strong at every level, and have strong partners that really leverage that strength. That’s why we like to have strong leadership teams intimately involved in each client we serve, so that its not ‘just one person’. It’s another reason why we focus on lifelong education, and is celebrated as one of our company’s core values…that each person continues to strengthen their knowledge and strategic leadership. Good practice for any firm. I believe CPB its holding company MDC will survive in the post-Bugusky era, but it will take strong leadership at every level to step out from the shadow.
